Unity Community Archive is a community-centered archive. This page is a working draft to explain how we collect and protect information, how we handle sensitive material, and how you can request changes.

What we collect

Information we ask for

  • Contributor name and contact details.
  • Story details, dates, places, and people mentioned.
  • Permissions and consent choices for sharing.
  • Media files such as audio, photos, or documents.

Public fields

What may be visible

  • Story title, summary, and approved media.
  • General location or community name, if allowed.
  • Language, theme tags, and format type.
  • Contributor name only if consent is given.

Private fields

What stays protected

  • Contact details, exact addresses, and identifiers.
  • Internal notes about consent or safety concerns.
  • Unapproved names, places, or media files.
  • Any details marked private by contributors.

Anonymity, pseudonyms, and access limits

Contributors can choose to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym. Access may be limited to protect people, families, or places.

Review, safety, and sensitive material

Submissions are reviewed by the Unity Community Archive team before publication. They may be limited, delayed, edited, anonymized, or withheld based on consent and safety. No submission is published automatically.

  • Records involving children receive extra review and care.
  • Sensitive conflict-related material is handled with added safeguards.
  • Community representatives may be consulted when needed.

Corrections, restrictions, or removal

You can ask for a correction, restriction, or removal at any time. Share what needs to change and why. We will review the request with the contributor and relevant community representatives when appropriate.
